Obaku Ltd.

Obaku Ltd.

Obaku Ltd. is a watch design company. The watch brand first presented a limited range of designs at BaselWorld in Switzerland in 2007 [1]. The watches are designed by two Danish born men, Christian Mikkelsen and Lau Liengård Ruge [2]. Obaku produces wristwatches with quartz movement for both men and woman.

The name for the watch brand stems from one of the three sects of Japanese Zen philosophy, called Ōbaku, which focuses on calm and balance among other things. Obaku Ltd. claims this way of thinking is blended with that of Northern European cultures that have long had a tradition of functionality and simplicity in their designs.
