It has 633 students enrolled and teaches grades 6 through 8. The schools mascot is the Red Raiders.
It is one of three middle schools in the city, the others being: Cedar Ridge Middle School and Brookhaven Middle School. These three are the only middle schools in the state of Alabama to offer the IB Middle Years Programme.
