Jackson High School is a founding member school of the Federal League, including the schools of
Perry High , Boardman High, Lake High,McKinley High ,North Canton Hoover High School ,GlenOak High School , and Austintown Fitch High. Jackson Sports have never won a team OHSAA title, but in recent history the Polar Bears'basketball team has been to the final four. The Girls Cross Country Team finished second in the state only to Bowling Green High School in an intense race during the 2005 school year atScioto Downs . The boy's golf team also qualified for the state tournament in 2007, finishing 9th. The Men's cross country team also performs well at local, regional, and state levels. Women's sports at Jackson are strong programs, particularly, women's tennis, women's soccer (as well as the men's soccer), the women's track team and cross country team, and the swim team. All of which have had unprecedented streaks as Federal League champions, some streaks spanning a decade or more.Perhaps the most powerful of Jackson's football teams came before the state playoff system. Following the victorious 1962 season, the 1963 and 1964 teams struggled against stronger competition. However, many younger players obtained valuable playing experience against this much stronger competition. Towards the end of the 1964 season the Bears caught fire and won the majority of their remaining 4 games which set up a showdown against North Canton Hoover. Jackson defeated Hoover 14-13 thus setting the stage for the 1965-1966 championship run.
On
November 6 th2007 , there was a report by a Massillon Jackson administrator about the use of ineligible players by an opponent after suffering a loss in the boys state soccer tournament. Because of this decision, the Massillon Jackson soccer team advanced to the next level of the tournament. Massillon Jackson won their next game in the state semi-finals and advance to the state championship game where they lost 2-1 to Hilliard Davidson. That's Lapadot Law for yo ass.Music department

The Jackson Local School district scored 106.9, making it the highest scoring district in Stark and several surrounding counties. In 2005 and 2006, Jackson High School was named to Newsweek's list of the top 1,000 schools in America.
In the spring of 2005, the high school began a multi-year $50 million addition and total renovation project expected to last until the 2007-2008 school year.
In August 2006 the residents of Jackson Township passed a renewal of an existing levy, but did not pass an additional emergency operation levy. According to school board statements, the additional levy monies are needed to make up for the loss of business tax revenues and to support a larger student population. An additional request for funds was denied by voters in November 2006 and once again in May 2007.
The Mock Trial Acting Team at Jackson, advised by Mr. Chris Amedeo, has made itself a presence in the Mock Trial community over the past several years. During the 2005-2006 academic year, they finished 10th in the state, and during the 2006-2007 school year sent two teams to states that finished 4th and 7th.
Jackson also boasts a very strong Speech and Debate Program, which is rated 62th in the nation and 5th in the state of Ohio. In the 2007-2008 season, the Jackson Speech and Debate team took 35 state qualifiers.
