South Spur Rail Services

South Spur Rail Services (SSRS) is a Western Australian owned railway company the provides terminal operations and short haul rail services to the rail transport industry. It is a family owned and operated business formed in 1997cite web

South Spur Rail have a number of contracts for hauling ballast, rail and sleeper trains. In Perth, South Spur also provide hook-and-pull services for the Pacific National SeaTrain service between Kewdale Freight Terminal and Fremantle Port. In the construction of the Perth to Mandurah railway SSR diesels have hauled track and sleepers over the Mount Henry Bridge as far as South Perth.

Until 2008 South Spur Rail Services also operated a Restaurant Train service called the Spirit of the West, using K class locomotive K205 and a number of standard gauge coaches including two hired from Rail Heritage WA.

The company acquired New South Wales company Silverton Rail in 2006 and renamed it Southern and Silverton Rail, with this subsidiary operating South Spur Rail Services services in New South Wales. The company became a wholly owned part of the Coote Industrial Group in 2007.
