OCZ Vertex 120GB

OCZ Vertex 120GB

The OCZ Vertex 120GB is a solid state drive from the memory manufacturer OCZ with a capacity of 120 Gigabytes. It contains NAND flash memory technology and has no moving parts than traditional platter hard drives have which makes the drive's access time less than 0.1ms[1] while simultaneously ensuring shock resistance. In addition, due to its new controller on the chip, the Indilinx barefoot and with 64 Megabytes of onboard cache, it provides much higher performance and smoother operation versus the many problems that plagued earlier generation solid state drives that used the JMicron controller and no onboard cache. The drive estimates a read speed of up to 250MB/s and a write speed of up to 180MB/s (when based on the Intel P45 chipset, although results may vary)[1]. Furthermore, OCZ is providing new firmware updates to improve the life and functionality of the drive. There are currently now 4 firmware updates being Version 0112, 1199, 1275, and 1370.
