Nude Artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir Year 1910 Type Oil on canvas Dimensions 129.5 cm × 172.7 cm (51 in × 68 in) Location National Museum of Serbia, Belgrade Nude (1910, French: Nu, Serbian: Купачица) is a painting by French impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir. It is oil on canvas, and it was painted in 1910. Estimated worth is about 10 million Euros. The painting is currently housed in the National Museum of Serbia in Belgrade.[1] Painting was gifted to Serbian people by Prince Paul of Yugoslavia.
History
The painting was stolen in 1996 by an amateur Roma thief.[2] During that situation, it was badly damaged, and it was recovered in afwul condition, requiring a year of restoration. After the Renoir was stolen, entire foreign art collection was moved to museum depot, in order to protect collection until new and better protection system is installed.[3]
