NU Cool is subset of CD compilations by UK-based record label Hed Kandi, a music brand which was established in 1999 by Mark Doyle, specialising in commercial house music. Hed Kandi's catalogue includes both artist albums and various genres of club compilations. The name is a modified spelling of "head candy", reminiscent of the expression eye candy.

Much of the cover artwork for the Hed Kandi records has been designed by the illustrator Jason Brooks.[citation needed] Hed Kandi albums are generally recognizable by a vector illustration of a female dancing/clubbing, along with Hed Kandi's logo and album name.
