Plectranthus rotundifolius is an herbaceous plant native to West Africa, now grown especially in South Asia and Southeast Asia as a leaf vegetable and a tuber vegetable.
A traditional food plant in Africa, this little-known vegetable has potential to improve nutrition, boost food security, foster rural development and support sustainable landcare.[1]
Vernacular names include kembili, sambrali (in Kannada), Koorka (Kerala and Sri Lanka), ratala, Hausa potato, frafra potato, Sudan potato, coleus potato, Zulu potato, and Zulu round potato.
