Norm Oliver was a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood. Also a talented tennis player, there was a possibility of a future Davis Cup appearance. Serving as a Flying Officer in the RAAF during World War II, he was killed when his plane crashed on a beach in New Guinea.
