The museum, which holds one of the largest collections in the entire Intermountain West with over 4,800 pieces, focuses largely on the art of the historic and contemporary American West. The facility itself was designed by architect Edward Larrabee Barnes, and consists of four levels, and share an open sculpture garden with the surrounding buildings. Five permanent collections share the space with rotating exhibitions from its collections and from around the nation.[1]
Named for its benefactor, the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art was made possible through an insightful and generous gift from the Nora Eccles Treadwell Foundation. The Museum’s collections have eclipsed over 5,000 objects through the generous support of the Marie Eccles Caine Foundation, Janet Quinney Lawson, Fredrick Q. Lawson, and the Kathryn C. Wanlass Foundation.[2]
The museum is part of the Fine Arts Complex at USU, which also includes the Manon Caine Russell Kathryn Caine Wanlass Performance Hall, the Caine Lyric Theatre, and the Chase Fine Arts Center, which is home to the Kent Concert Hall, the Morgan Theatre, the Tippets Exhibit Hall and Balcony, and the Black Box Studio Theatre, as well as the museum.
