The country is represented by a delegation of thirty-seven athletes and six officials. Niue's athletes competed in weighlifting, athletics, shooting, lawn bowls and wrestling.[2]

Women's 75 kg weightlifter Narita Viliamu had described as the country's "one outside shot at a medal", but Niueans did achieve upsets in lawn bowls, with "a shock 8-6 4-13 2-1 [victory over] the New Zealand men", and a 10-6 2-21 2-1 victory over the Australian women.[3][4]
