Barry Leonard Pashak (born: ) was a member of the
Legislative Assembly of Alberta ,Canada , from 1986 to 1993.Provincial politics
Pashak first ran for the
Alberta New Democratic Party in 1971 inCalgary North Hill . In 1986 he wonCalgary Forest Lawn with the help of heavy vote splitting. He was defeated in 1993 when, after his riding was abolished, he ran in Calgary East againstMoe Amery , whom he had defeated twice previously.Following his electoral defeat in 1993, Pashak left the
Alberta New Democratic Party . In 2000, he became leader of the Equity Party. The party stagnated and failed to run any candidates in the 2001 General Election. Pashak stepped down as leader in 2001.Federal politics
Pashak has been a perennial candidate in federal elections. He ran for the
Canadian House of Commons as aNew Democratic Party candidate in the 1972 federal election but was defeated byEldon Woolliams . He ran inCalgary East in the 1979 1980 and 1984 federal elections being easily defeated byJohn Kushner andAlex Kindy respectively.External links
