- Nikumbh
-
Nikumbh is a clan of Chauhan Rajputs, also found in Yaduvanshi Ahirs in the states of Rajasthan and Haryana in India.[1]Though the original home of Nikumbhs are Rajputana and Punjab, they are found in eastern Uttar Pradesh and are settled in the Farrukhabad, Jaunpur, Ballia, Tulsipur-Balarampur, Azamgarh, and Hardoi districts.
Many Yadav members of the Nukumbh gotra are found in the village of Jonaicha khurd in Alwar district of Rajasthan. The Farrukhabad colony was established in the 12th century by two Nikumbh adventurers from Oudh called Man and Sahraj. Their descendants rendered assistance to the Chandravanshi Raja of Sandi, who conferred on them the title of Nikumbh or Nek-kam, which means "good service".
The Sornet clan is generally considered to be the same stock as the Nikumbhs.[2][3]
