Nikolai Dmitriyevich Kuznetsov (1850–1930) was a Ukrainian painter of portraits, landscapes and genre scenes. Born to a noble family in the region of Kherson, he studied from 1876 until 1880 at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. From 1881 he exhibited with the Peredvizhniki, becoming accepted as a member in 1893. He taught at the Academy; in 1890 he was among the founders of the Society of South Russian Artists in Odessa, where he exhibited at times. Some of his works had an idyllic air of the rural about them; others celebrated peasants and peasant life. Kuznetsov's work may be seen in the collections of the National Art Museum of Ukraine and the Tretyakov Gallery, among other collections.
