He was a member of the Canada men's national water polo team, that claimed the bronze medal at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Playing as a goalkeeper Youngblud was named the most valuable goalie at the 2007 national championship, where his team, Hamilton Aquatics, won its first national championship title since 1981. He played for two years on the national youth team, and two years on the national junior team. Youngblud has an accounting degree from the University of Calgary.
