Newton International Fellowships

The Newton International Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme selects 50 of the best Post-Doctoral researchers each year from all over the world across disciplines and offer them support for 2 years at UK research Institutions. It is the most prestigious postdoctoral research programme in the UK and established by British Academy, The Royal Academy of Engineering, The Royal Society. Newton fellowships cover various disciplines of natural and social sciences, engineering as well as humanities. The candidates must have a strong research project and a UK sponsor.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must have completed PhD/be in final stage so that it completes before start of fellowship. • Applicants must not have held more than one or two postdoctoral positions. • Applicants must be working outside UK and should not be UK citizen at the time of application. • Applicants must have strong research project and a UK sponsor. • Applicants must be competent in Oral and written English.

Application Selection Criteria:

While selecting candidates for fellowships following are the considerations while selecting the candidates:

• Academic research background of the Applicant • Quality of the proposed research project • Expected benefits for the career development of the Applicant • Track record of the UK Sponsor/host organisation in the area of proposed research • Suitability of the UK Sponsor/host organisation for the research project • Additional benefits for the UK Sponsor/host organisation.
