New York Public Service Commission

The New York Public Service Commission is a government agency that regulates the various utilities of the state of New York. The commission also oversees the cable industry.

The commission consists of up to five members, led by a commissioner. Each member is appointed by the governor and confirmed by the New York State Senate for a term of six years or to complete an unexpired term of a member. The current chairman is Garry A. Brown, who was named Chairman on January 2, 2008.
