New Izmir Stadium will be a multi-use stadium in Kemalpaşa district, Izmir, Turkey. The stadium will have a capacity of nearly 41,540 people (all-seated) and will be totally covered. It will be also one of the 9 candidate host stadiums of Turkish bid for EURO 2016.[1]

The New İzmir Stadium, a modern amphitheatre also known as “Ege’nin Gözbebeği” (the Pupil of the Aegean) will be located on a hill north of İzmir Bay, creating a landmark similar to a lighthouse on the Aegean coastline. The architecture of the stadium is inspired by historical influences of Hellenic and Roman architecture, which have dominated this part of Turkey for millennia.

The recessed glazed façade and the base construction of this 40,000+ seat stadium are derived from the appearance of ancient Roman coliseums while the upper tier is a modern interpretation of a Hellenic amphitheatre. This tier is in the form of a horseshoe and is open towards the South, which offers our visitors inside the stadium a spectacular view over the bay to the city centre.

The New İzmir Stadium is conceived as an amenity that brings the surrounding area to life 24 hours a day, attracting people to the stadium’s entertainment facilities as well as its restaurants, cafes and bistros, offices and banquet hall.

The newly projected tramline and motorway connections as well as ferries and several bus lines will provide excellent connectivity to the city centre.
