Laverne Harris

Laverne Harris, better known as "Nevada Annie," was a world chili champion.

In 1978 Harris won the Annual World's Championship Chili Cookoff in Las Vegas, Nevada, receiving a $15,000 prize.^[1]

Her celebrated chili recipe, Nevada Annie's Cowboy Chili (also known as Nevada Annie's Champion Chili), is widely circulated by chili aficionados and can be found on many Internet recipe sites.

Harris was married to Richard Perez and resided in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Harris died October 3, 2008, and was buried in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.^[2]
