He was the club's first Kerry Senior Hurling Championship-winning captain in 1932. He also captained St Brendan's to County Championship success in 1936. In 1987 his family donated a cup to the Kerry County Board. It is presented to the winners of the Kerry Hurling Championship.
The inscription on the cup reads:
