Union OfficialNeil Albert Pope (born 3 March 1949) is a former Australian politician. He was the Labor member for Monbulk in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1982 to 1992.[1]
Career
Pope worked as a local government officer for the Fitzroy City Council and industrial officer for the Municipal Officers Association, before being elected president of the Mt Evelyn Environment Protection & Progress Association in 1978.
Pope was elected to the Victorian Electoral district of Monbulk at the 1982 State election, won by the Labor party and John Cain II. He was the Victorian Minister for Labour from 1988 to 1992 and Minister for School Education from January to October in 1992.[1] Pope lost his seat in October 1992, when the Kennett Liberal Government was elected.
