Le Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée or CNC (the National Center of Cinematography and the moving image) is a French agency of the Ministry of Culture, responsible for the production and promotion of cinematic and audiovisual arts in France, is a publicly owned establishment, with legal and financial autonomy.

Created by law on 25 October 1946 as the Centre national de la cinématographie (National Center of Cinematography), it is currently directed by Éric Garandeau.

  • The regulation of cinema
  • Providing support of the economy of the cinema, audiovisual and multimedia arts
  • The promotion and spread of the cinema and audiovisual for the public
  • The protection and spread of France's cultural heritage in cinematography
