It was established in 1966 by Wolfgang Blass, an immigrant to Australia from Germany. The winery has won numerous awards and is a major exporter of wine to the United Kingdom. It is now the largest winery in the Barossa Valley,Fact|date=March 2007 and is owned by Foster's Group.
