Nardus is a European botanical genus belonging to the family Poaceae (grasses). The genus formerly included more species, but the only currently accepted member is Nardus stricta.
The name derives from the Greek Nardos (ναρδοσ), the name for this plant. It is not to be confused with Spikenard, Nardostachys grandiflora.
