Sanpan, Namibia

Sampan is situated near the Dordabis area, in the southern part of Namibia.

Most of the areas situated on this farm land is covered with shrubs, trees and sand. Most people inhabiting these areas are farmers and keep a few livestock (cattle, sheep and goats). The area does not have any modernised housing, electricity or water facilities. Currently only a few areas have obtained electricity facilities. There are no tarred roads and people there make a living from their farming activities and some keep small shops.

The inhabitants make use of the old forms of transport such as donkey carts and horses. The children of the families living in the area have to travel far to get to school, as there are no such facilities around. Also in order to get hospital or law inforcement services the people have to travel to Dordabis. Most families living here moved from Rehoboth to this area, after independence.
