The Sherman family owns Casa Sucre, located in the historic Casco Viejo neighborhood of San Felipe, Panama.[2] Built in 1873, the 8,000-square-foot (740 m2) home goes by its historic name of Casa Sucre. The Shermans renovated the building, restoring its original 19th century architecture, and turned it into a boutique hotel. It is scheduled for a grand opening in July 2010.

During Najahe's early childhood years the family moved from California to Lee's Summit, a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri where she attended school. She won the state costume portion of the pageant, wearing an authentic Mardi Gras Krewe of Apollo Queen costume, sponsored by former King and Queen of the Mystic Krewe of Apollo XXI.
