Nadia Azzi

Nadia Azzi (born on August 11, 1998 in Dunedin, Florida) is a half-Japanese, half-Lebanese classical pianist. She began playing piano at age four and a half and has won many awards since then. She still currently resides in Florida.

Awards

At the age of 11, Azzi was awarded the Gold Medal at the American Association for the Development of the Gifted and Talented (AADGT). In May 2011 she was awarded both the first prize in the Overall and the ART New Music Award in the 2011 New Music National Young Artist Competition in Chicago, Illinois.[1] She was also awarded the top prize in the Early Music Open Junior Category at the 2011 Walgreens National Concerto Competition in Fort Sheridan, Illinois hosted by the Midwest Young Artists. Azzi was the youngest Winner in the 2010 Orfeo International Music Festival Competition in Italy.[2] She recently became the 2011 Winner of the Tampa Bay Symphony Young Artist Competition.[3]

Performance Venues

In 2010, she and made her New York City debut performing at Carnegie Hall. In the summer of 2010, Azzi had her European debut at the Teatro Communale in Vipiteno, Italy. She also performed in many places in Aspen, Colorado. Her orchestral debut in June 2011 lead her to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Boston Neo-politan Orchestra in Cambridge, MA under the baton of conductor Jon Ceander Mitchell. [4] Nadia was featured exclusively on the "Impromptu" program on 98.7WFMT. [5] During the same week, she had a solo concert at the New Music School of Chicago.

Studies

In 2010, she attended the Orfeo International Music Festival. During the summer of 2011, she was accepted into the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School, studying under Yoheved Kaplinsky, an award-winning classical pianist, lecturer and professor of music at the Juilliard School.
