Nadeem John Shakir is a Catholic priest of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lahore in Pakistan. He was born in Toba Tek Singh in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Faisalabad. His father was Babu Sardar Serafine the Catechist in charge of the Parish.[1] He received his early education from St. Thomas High School in Khushpur.
Father Shakir is the director of WAVE Studio which uses modern technology to produce and distribute music, audio material, and radio programmes for catechesis.[2]
In 2005 he was also a lecturer at the St. Francis Xavier Seminary in Lahore.
On June 10, 2009, he issued a press release in Lahore immediately after learning about the threat to his center and the staff of various catholic organisations in the center building to convert to Islam or face dire consequences. [3]
Father Shakir, executive secretary of the bishops' commission for social communications, was the main celebrant at a Mass on April 22, 2010, marking Earth Day.[4]
In 2011 Father Shakir was also the director of Radio Veritas Asia’s Urdu Service.[5] In that position he has promoted the radio as a means of communication to train new leaders of civil society, with moderate and democratic ideas, based on respect for universal values and rights that can be an antidote to religious fundamentalism or ideological extremism which has grown alarmingly in Pakistani society.[6]
