Network and Management Laboratory

Networks and Management Laboratory - NML (in Portuguese language: Laboratório de Redes e Gerência - LRG) is a laboratory at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, developing research in the areas of computer and telecommunications network management. The Networks and Management Laboratory was founded in 1994 by professor Carlos Westphall at the Department of Informatics and Statistics of the Federal University of Santa Catarina.

Projects developed in NML

Since 1994 the participants of the Networks and Management Laboratory - NML of UFSC have been active in the following projects approved by the CNPq: GESCONGRECO Project - Management and Security for Cognitive Networks, Cloud and Grid Computing (2010–2014); GERSAU Project - Management of Networks and Services Autonomous and ubiquitous (2007–2010); Tager Project - Advanced Topics in Management of Computer Networks and Telecommunications (2003–2007), Project HOPE - "Hot Topics" in Management Network (2001–2003); GERDIM Project - Management in Distributed and Mobile Networks ( 1999–2001); Project self - Distribution Automation and Management of Networks (1997–1999), and Project PLAGERE - Platform for Network Management (1994–1997).

Members of the NML - Networks and Management Laboratory are professors and students at the Federal University of Santa Catarina and other institutions. Members of the NML - Networks and Management Laboratory could update the NML web page.

Ralationship with journals and conferences

Members of the NML - Networks and Management Laboratory are participating as members of organizing and program committees of conferences sponsored by IEEE, IFIP, and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and also as member of editorial board of journals, like: JNSM (Journal of Network and Systems Management) of Springer; and COMNET (Computer Networks Journal) of Elsevier.[citation needed]

The Networks and Management Laboratory - NML of UFSC has several copies of books and proceedings of conferences in the area of research themes developed. All copies of the IEEE Communications Magazine since 1994, all copies of the Journal of Network and Systems Management from Springer since 2001 and all copies of the Journal of Computer Networks Elsevier since 2005. In addition, 14 computers for developing the research activities.
