The company is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea with US offices in Los Angeles, California, and uses its proprietary technologies to provide an application that can be used to combine different music samples to create unique tracks that can be downloaded as MP3. The application itself can be downloaded for free from the website and music creation is also free, but the company charges a $0.99 fee for MP3 download. Musicshake uses its own virtual currency called Shake Cash.

History
Musicshake was founded on the "No Brainer Musician" concept of empowering the general public to be able to experience the joy of becoming an artist without any musical talent. Musicshake released its closed beta in South Korea in 2007 May and in the US in 2007 September on the day the company presented at TechCrunch 40. Musicshake is one of the pioneers in the field of user generated music services utilizing the Free to Play model to generate revenue. In 2009 June, Musicshake announced that they have succeeded in developing a Flash based Musicshake application available in a widgetized form.
Partnership with Cyworld
In 2007 July, Musicshake launched Cyworld-Musicshake services that allow Cyworld users to create their own music with a specially designed Musicshake application for Cyworld. They can then post their creations on Cyworld Music Charts and purchase their own creations with Cyworld's virtual currency Acorns to embed the music as their background music for "mini-hompies." Musicshake has held various user participated events on Cyworld.
Partnership with Nexon
Nexon, the online gaming company, is a strategic investor in Musicshake and Musicshake has held several events with Audition Online which is now serviced by Redbana US. Nexon America and Musicshake held events inviting Audition gamers to use Musicshake to create their own tracks to be featured in-game. [1]
Partnership with YouTube
Musicshake is a Premium Audio Partner for YouTube's AudioSwap services. YouTube users can browse through and choose 009 Sound System tracks from the AudioSwap library and embed the tracks as background music for their YouTube videos for free.
