Music Hall Magic is a direct to DVD release from Dark Tower Films, presented by Magician Matt Grindley. Matt who is a huge fan of the Music Hall genre also directed the documentary and selected the artistes to be featured including Old Mother Riley George Formby Arthur Askey

Synopsis

The story begins in the cotton mills of Lancashire when the mill workers begin to receive paid holidays and journey to the coast. Blackpool suddenly becomes a haven and a new breed of entertainers fill the Music Hall and Piers with their comedy and singing routines.

Slim Ingram interview

The DVD features an exclusive interview with Slim Ingram, Slim was Arthur Lucans (Old Mother Riley) manager and friend. When Arthur became ill after coming off stage at the Travoli Theatre in Hull he died in Slims arms. Slim recalls the day and Arthur's story in a spin off DVD The Arthur Lucan Story also Produced by Matt Grindley.

Film Clips

The DVD features rare film clips from Arthur Lucan, George Formby and Arthur Askey and archive footage of Lancashire and Blackpool.

Filming locations

Many locations were used for Matt's presenting links, including Wigan Pier, Blackpool Promenade and the Central Pier Blackpool.
