Mushaukwa Mukunyandela

Dr. Mushaukwa Mukunyandela (born 1945) is a Zambian Consultant Neuro-Physician and the first Zambian to be admitted as a full Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK) at the age of 31.[1]

In October 2003, he was honoured and awarded by the late Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa with the Order of Distinguished Service, First Division.[2]

In addition to being the first (and over a long period the only) Neuro-Physician in the country, he has worked in several capacities including as the Acting Dean of the School of Medicine at UNZA and Director of the TDRC in collaboration with the WHO. He has also chaired a number of Medical Boards and Organizations including the MCZ, CBOH, NCH, ADH, FDS, NAC and Ndola Trust School. A highly respected Medical Practitioner, he lives in Ndola with his wife where they run a successful Mini-Hospital, Maongo, treating thousands of patients annually. They have 6 children, two of whom are Medical Doctors in their own right.[citation needed]
