Moxie Marlinspike is a computer security researcher. He has discovered several high-profile computer-related security problems, is well known for work with both secure protocols and Android, and is the author of the sailing film Hold Fast.^[1]

He is currently the CTO and co-founder of Whisper Systems^[2], is a fellow at the Institute For Disruptive Studies^[3], has a 50-ton Master Mariner's license^{[citation needed]}, runs a cloud-based WPA cracking service^[4], manages the GoogleSharing targeted anonymity service^[5], and is the author of the Convergence SSL authenticity system.^[6]

Whisper Systems

Whisper Systems produces security and privacy software applications for mobile communications devices running the Android operating system including WhisperMonitor, Flashback, WhisperCore, RedPhone, and TextSecure.^[7]

Hold Fast

Hold Fast^[8] is a storytelling video that documents Moxie Marlinspike and three friends (referred to as "Allie," "Lisa," and "Kirsten") who travel to Florida after a hurricane with very little money and the intention to find a boat. Even with almost no experience, they manage to find a hurricane-wrecked boat, restore it into passable shape, and sail it from Florida to Haiti.
