Mount Macnowski

Mount Macnowski (74°59′S 64°57′W / 74.983°S 64.95°W / -74.983; -64.95) is a mountain in the north part of the Scaife Mountains, about 5 nautical miles (9 km) west-southwest of Schmitt Mesa, near the base of Antarctic Peninsula. First observed from the air by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE), 1947-48. Mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1961-67. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Francis B. Macnowski, construction mechanic at South Pole Station in 1967.
