Monument istoric (plural:Monumente istorice) is the Romanian name for a National Heritage Site, which is defined as a work of sculpture or architectural design of large scale or of great cultural heritage value, designed to perpetuate the memory of an event or an outstanding personality.

This type of cultural property includes historic monuments as listed in the National Register of Historic Monuments in Romania.[1] It may also include entities that are not specifically listed, but which contain listed items, such as a park or a cemetery.
