- Mitake-kyo

Mitake-kyo (Ontake-kyo) is a Japanese Shintoist grouping. Its sacred mountain is Mount Ontake.[1] It was founded by Shimoyama Osuke.[2] It had 3 million members in 1930.[3] The numbers have fallen below one million.[4] Its headquarters has been moved from Tokyo to Futana-cho in the city of Nara. [5] Mitake-kyo has special rites.[6] It is strongly influenced by the values of the Meiji era.[7]
