MillRace IT is a not-for-profit social firm who are owned by the charity Interact. For the last 10 years they have provided IT Recycling, Data Destruction and Asset management services.
Most of their collections are free of charge and their social enterprise delivers projects to help young people with learning difficulties, those with mental health issues, and to help the elderly, bedridden and housebound.
In addition, they are not trying to make money to pay themselves fat salaries, they simply want to have a workshop full of IT equipment so that they can employ the long term unemployed who truly want to return to work, and so that they can give back to the community through low or no-cost refurbished equipment schemes.
Commercial Expertise:
Professional collection of redundant IT and Telecom equipment, desktops, servers, switches, printers, photocopiers, monitors and peripherals. Data destruction with certification through government approved drive wiping software, or through shredding Zero landfill and effective recycling back into the community. Anything that cannot be reused, they extract all recyclable parts and then smelt down the metals and plastics so none of the scrap goes to landfill. They abide by all WEEE and Environment agency guidelines. Social Enterprise (CSR):

Example: their award winning program Essex UnITE has the sole aim of decreasing the digital divide to those over 50. They do this by creating schemes to provide those groups with IT equipment, training and support. It is important to note that they are a not-for-profit Social Firm (all profits go back to their parent charity InterAct (No 1048631) They also employ those that are employment disadvantaged and train them to return to the workplace.
