Coaching career
College and Amateur
Toshack began his coaching career in 1994 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, where he served as assistant coach until 2003, winning the NCAA Division III championship in 1999. While coaching at St. Lawrence University, Toshack also served as the goalkeeper coach for the Canadian U-20 national team from 1998 to 2001.
Professional
Toshack began his professional coaching career in 2002 as the assistant coach of the Montreal Impact in the United Soccer League First Division. On February 15, 2005, he assumed the role of Director of Goalkeeping for the Vancouver Whitecaps,[1] where he went on to help the squad win the USL First Division championship the following year.
Following his tenure with the Whitecaps, Toshack went on to become the goalkeeper coach for the Houston Dynamo, where he remained until he joined Toronto FC as goalkeeper coach on January 8, 2009.[2][3]
