Tom Racer was a band that originated in the Los Angeles in 1997.^[1] The band was formed by Mike Elliot and Erik Newton with Jon Elliot on drums.^[2] They opened for acts such as Jimmy Eat World, Marcy Playground, and Ash.^[2] Aaron Emil joined the band and Jared Summerell replaced Jon Elliot on drums.^[2] The band broke up when Mike Elliott opted for a career in the military.^[1]
