Microsoft Skype Division is a division within Microsoft that develops and operates the VoIP software, Skype. Microsoft announced that it had planned on acquiring Skype Limited in May 2011 for $8.5 billion. The acquisition got US and EU approval and was completed on 13 October 2011, although approval is still awaiting in several other countries. Microsoft plans on incorporating Skype's technologies into many of their products, such as Xbox 360 and Windows Phone. Skype's offices will continue to remain where they have been before the acquisition was completed.
