Pasquale "Pat" Mastroianni (born December 22 1971) is a Canadian actor most famous for his role as 'Joey Jeremiah' on the "Degrassi" television shows.

Biography

Mastroianni was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He tried out for the "Degrassi" series when he was thirteen years old, and was subsequently cast as Joey Jeremiah, whose love of friends and rock and roll - especially his own band, The Zit Remedy - saw him through numerous troubles (and frequent croonings of "Everybody Wants Something", apparently the Zit Remedy's only tune). In 1988, Mastroianni won a Gemini Award for Best Continuing Actor in a Supporting Role. After "Degrassi High" ended in 1992, Mastroianni worked as a waiter and a painter in his father's construction business, and gave up college for acting when his university mandated that he devote all his time to his studies. He had roles in several Canadian productions, including Liberty Street and Music Works. Though he was quoted as saying in 1998 that there was "very little" chance for a Degrassi sequel, "" began in 2001, where Mastroianni reprised his role as Joey for six seasons. He announced on his website that after three seasons of Degrassi Junior High, two more of Degrassi High and six seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation he is no longer going to portray Joey Jeremiah, he wanted to continue his acting career to other projects. Some fans critisized Pat for quitting Degrassi, having most of his fans be fans of his memorable character.

In 2007, ET Canada included Mastroianni's character of Joey in a list of the top 25 Canadian television characters of all time. Mastroianni continues acting, selling Degrassi memorabilia on eBay, and living in Toronto with his golden retriever, Bosco. He is from Italian background. He was also seen on The Real Housewives of New York City.
