Mixed martial arts career
Kita fought in M-1 Global for Team World, having a 3-1 record in M1. His last M1-Challenge opponent was Liron Wilson from Team Turkey at M-1 Challenge 16 whom he stopped in less than four minutes. In his next bout, Kita defeated Lloyd Marshbanks at M-1 Global Presents Breakthrough on August 28, 2009 via submission in the first round. Most recently, Michał has won the IAFC - Mayor's Cup 2009 8man heavyweight tournament in Novosibirsk, Russia. He eliminated all of his rivals via first round TKO due to punches, winning 20 000 dollars. Michał fought in the main event of BOTE - Gdynia II in June against Damian Grabowski to determine the nr 1 heavyweight in Poland. Unfortunately, he slipped falling out of the ring, which resulted in a cut and the doctor stopped the bout.[3]
According to MMAROCKS.PL Kita signed a contract with Bellator FC and was expected to compete in their heavyweight tournament at Bellator XXV in August.[4] However, the loss to Grabowski excluded Kita from the tournament. He made his Bellator debut filling in for injured Ricco Rodriguez against Dave Herman at Bellator 31.[5]
Kita set the pace of the fight, using his supreme kickboxing to knock Herman down and later his wrestling to take his opponent down two times. However, after the second takedown, Herman managed to secure an omoplata, forcing Kita to tap out.Michał Kita is now scheduled to fight Konstantin Gluhov at Fighters Arena Łódź 2.
