He currently resides in Walla Walla, Washington with his wife Sandy, son Luke and is the CEO of the Walla Walla Symphony. Wenberg has attended Seattle Pacific University and Eastern Washington University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Gonzaga University. A highly regarded speaker in elementary schools, Wenberg uses his trombone-playing to introduce children to his stories, reading, writing, and music.

- Elizabeth's Song is a picture book of the inspiring true-life story of Elizabeth Cotten, the legendary African American folk-singer and songwriter, who wrote the folk classic, "Freight Train" when she was just eleven years old.
- Seattle Blues is a story of a thirteen-year-old African-American girl that is sent away to Seattle, Washington for the summer, she doesn't know what to expect. She's been sentenced to spend her entire summer vacation with a stranger-—her grandma. Before the summer is out, she'll make a few unusual friends and stumble across a treasure, a trombone once played by a long dead and forgotten grandpa.
