Career
Michael T. Moore has worked in the field of maritime and aviation law for more than 30 years.[3] His interest in maritime law originated from his summers, “waiting tables in Cape Cod” before law school.[3] Fortunately, Moore’s opportunity in the maritime field began from merely mentioning his “goal of being a maritime lawyer” to Herbert Mayhew Lord in Cape Cod.[3] Fortunately, Herbert Mayhew Lord’s father was part of the Burlingham, Underwood, and Lord firm, whose past clients included the owners of the RMS Titanic. Through Herbert M. Lord, Moore landed his first job as an associate with Messrs, Burlingham, Underwood and Lord, working in New York City and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.[4]
During Moore's stint in Saudi Arabia, he and his wife, Leslie Lott, worked on "foreign investment-related matters."[5] In 1980, Moore joined Holland and Knight in Miami. During his partnership with Holland and Knight, Moore was the head chair of the Marine and Aviation Practice.[4] In 2004, Moore established his own firm, Moore and Company, P.A. He is a specialist in new construction, purchases, sales, registration, regulation and tax issues to complex litigation, appellate work and international arbitration on products such as mega-yachts and private jets.[6] His clients include Donald Trump, Tiger Woods and Faisel Al Matrook.
Awards and Distinctions
Moore's legal career has established him as one of the pre-eminent attorneys currently practicing in Florida. In 2008, Moore was chosen as a Florida Super Lawyer by Law and Politics magazine (as well as in 2007 and 2006).[7] In the same year, Moore was also voted one of the Best Lawyers in America[2] which is the oldest lawyer-rating publication in the U.S.[8] Moore has been recognized as a Top Lawyer in South Florida by the South Florida Legal Guide. The South Florida Legal Guide also bestowed this distinction on Moore in 2005. In 2009, he was again selected as one of the Elite Florida Lawyers by Florida Trend Magazine.[7] Also, he is a member of Who’s Who In American Law,[4] member of the American Bar Association[4] and is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. The AV-Rated is the “highest rating given to practicing attorneys”.[7]
Currently, Moore is the current the Chairman of the International Seakeepers Society and the President of the Admiral Fleet of Florida.[4]
