Michael Sutton (b. Sept. 22 1949) is an American playwright, television writer, novelist and computer instructor.
Born Michael Fossen in Pasadena, California, he adopted the name of his mother's second husband at an early age, following her divorce from his birth father.
In 1979, he was commissioned by an agent-friend to co-write a novel based on the Texas City, Texas, disaster of 1947. The result was published by Avon in 1980 as Explosion: The Day Texas City Died.[1]
Eventually he teamed with Animal House co-author Chris Miller on several television scripts, the most memorable probably being the "Weemaweegate" episode of the short-lived cult TV show, Square Pegs.[2]
Concurrent with his screen and television worked, Sutton collaborated with two other writers on a pair of theatrical plays, both of which were professionally produced and subsequently published:
- Lookng-Glass[3] (with Cynthia Mandelberg), Entermedia Theatre (off-Broadway), 1982
- Over My Dead Body (with Anthony Fingleton), Savoy Theatre (London), 1989
Divorced and the father of a son, Sutton continues writing for the theater in Los Angeles, California.
