Michael C. Janeway (born 1940) is currently a professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He previously was editor of the Boston Globe and dean of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
Janeway is the son of Eliot Janeway and his wife the former Elizabeth Hall. He has a bachelors degree from Harvard University. He was also the executive editor of the Atlantic Monthly. He also worked for a time as special assistant to United States Secretary of State Cyrus Vance.
Among books by Janeway are The Fall of the House of Roosevelt: Brokers of Ideas & Power from FDR to LBJ (Columbia University Press, 2004) and Republic of Denial: Press, Politics and Public Life (Yale University Press, 1999).
