Ernie and the AutomaticsMichael "Tunes" Antunes is an American musician and actor best known as the saxophone player for John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band.
Career
Michael Antunes began his professional career in 1972 when he became a founding member of John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band, originally known as Beaver Brown. The band developed a reputation for themselves as a live act around New England, especially in their home state of Rhode Island, throughout the 1970s. In 1982 the Beaver Brown Band performed all of the music for the fictional band, Eddie and the Cruisers, in the film of the same name and this yielded them some hits. Antunes was the only member of the band to actually appear in the film as Wendell Newton, the saxophone player for the Cruisers. Antunes briefly reprised his role as Wendell Newton for the 1989 sequel, Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives!.[1]
Antunes still performs with John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band to this day. He has also become a member of Ernie and the Automatics, a band which includes former Boston members Barry Goudreau and Sib Hashian.
