Mian Muhibullah Kakakhel is the first youngest practicing Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court ( Equivalent to Queen's Counsel in England and Wales) in the history of Pakistan and the former candidate for the presidentship of Pakistan.
During the regime of General Zia ul Haq, the President of Pakistan (1977–88),the smuggling, sale and use of heroin was on its highest. The drug addicts were not only increasing but majority of them were dying because of lack of treatment and attention from society. Other diseases like hepatitis, HIV AIDS etc. were also on the increase. Mr. Kakakhel formulated a social plan for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts. He launched an organization called SMARDA (Society for Medical Care and Rehabilitation of Drug Addicts). The society was totally funded by Mr. Kakakhel from his pocket. He faced great resistance, enmity and threats from drug purchasers including threats to his life and some actual attempts at his life. The society served its purpose to some extent when some Govt. hospitals undertook the treatment of drug addicts. The SMARDA was dissolved in 1995. A lot of progress has since been made towards this end by some NGOs, thanks to the spade work of Mr. Kakakhel.
In 1991 when the Gulf was attacked by the US led forces the people of Iraq suffered heavily. Mr. Kakakhel formed on army of volunteers to help Iraqis and to reduce their plight. The militia was given the name of Labaik Force and was totally funded by Mr. Kakakhel. The unit was dissolved in 1994.
In 1992 Mr. Kakakhel announced the launching of a political party called Pakistan Aainee Party. He was chosen its founder President with the manifesto of upholding the Constitution, Supremacy of law, independence of judiciary and Rule of law. The party faced unbearable challenges from within and outside the country.
The Pakistan Aainee Party could not hold the ground as its leaders and workers faced great odds and hardships. The party was dissolved after just three years of its creation. The agencies, establishment, land lords and the ruling janta left no stone unturned to damage Mr. Kakakhel. The party was disbanded only after three years.
Mr. Kakakhel was the first to challenge the military take over of the country by General Pervez Musharraf. In the case of ex-chief Minister NWFP Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbassi vide writ petition No.1 of 2000. The coup was challenged before the Peshawar High Court.
Feeling that all the agencies and political parties are helping President Musharraf’s dictatorial rule and Musharraf was going to be elected unopposed in the forth coming sham elections to the office of President of Pakistan, Mr. Kakakhel announced his candidature for the post of the President of Pakistan. The candidature was welcomed by almost all the pressure groups including army Generals and Politicians but then all of a sudden the lawyers movement started against the removal of Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Iftikhar Chaudhry. The lawyers movement overshadowed the presidential elections and also the candidature of Mr. Kakakhel, hence he withdraw his claim to the presidency of the country in the best interest of the country.
Mr. Kakakhel also started Pakistan Jurists Association in the year 1990. The Jurist association still continues.
Keeping in view the deteriorating peace and security situation in the world and the sufferings and destruction of the mankind at its own hands, Mr. Kakakhel has initiated a new platform. The platform will provide the world community with a forum other than U.N.O to give vent to their feelings and for advancing the cause of humanity to bring peace and security in the world. The forum is called LIPS (Lawyers for International Peace and Security). The lawyers and Jurists all along the world will be mobilized towards the path of security for mankind.
