For the current IndyCar race in Miami, see Cafés do Brasil Indy 300.
The Miami Indy Challenge was a CART Champ Car race held at Tamiami Park, a small outdoor sports facility in the nearby suburb of University Park. Modern American open wheel racing in Miami, Florida, initially lasted only from 1985 until 1988. The event lasted through 1988, and twice included the CART Marlboro Challenge all star race.
In 1995, Indy car racing returned to the Miami area, with the first running of the Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami at Bicentennial Park, and later, at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
