Menoufia University


Menoufia University, an Egyptian University founded in 1976, is located principally in Shibin el Kom (Arabic: شبين الكوم‎) a city in Delta and the capital of the Monufia Governorate. There is also a branch in Sadat City, founded in 2006..

It contains faculties: of Electronic Engineering, Agriculture , Arts, Computers and Information, Commerce, Law, and Medicine. Both undergraduate and post-graduate education is offered.

  • The Faculty of Agriculture was established as an Agricultural Higher Institute, affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education, in 1958. It became affiliated with the new university in 1976.
  • The faculty of Commerce was established in the academic year 1980/1981. A section for teaching in English was added in 1995/1996
  • The Faculty of Computers and Information was founded in September 2001, and offers courses in the departments of Computer Science, Information Technology, and Information Science.
  • The faculty of Education was first established in 1971 , affiliated to Ain Shams University. In 1975, it became affiliated to Tanta University. The faculty then becameaffiliated to Minoufiya University at its founding in 1976. It contains departments of Educational Psychology. Curricula and Teaching Methods, and Education Fundamentals. Its Bachelors degrees are offered in combination with one of the dezartments in the faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Science. [1]
  • The Faculty of Electronic Engineering was founded as the Higher Institute of Electronics in 1965, affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education. In 1975, it was transformed into Faculty of Electronic Engineering affiliated to Tanta University. In 1976, it became affiliated to Minoufiya University. It contains departments of Control and Measurements, Computer Sciences, Electrical Communication Engineering, and Physics and Mathematics


There are as three major research institutes:

  • The National Liver Institute.
  • Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology Institute.
  • Institute of Environmental Research and Studies.
